The client was interested in enlarging the size of the existing kitchen to better accommodate their needs and lifestyle.  As a frequent host to friends and family, the owner wanted an open kitchen that would facilitate entertaining.  It was important to have a kitchen design that provided for a multitude of activities that were not possible in the existing configuration.  The new layout provides a convenient area for homework as well as informal dining.  It was essential to create a laundry and mudroom on the main floor of the house. -jfa
